Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 / Part 4

How have we been in lockdown for over two months now? Feels like time is moving so slow, and that’s just not in real life, back in 2006 FM20 world, it’s not even December yet, but I feel like a whole season has gone by. We’ve definitely been treated to a season worth’s wonder goals. With Paul Wotton and Lilian Nalis at the forefront.

It’s time to quicken the pace a bit and get ourselves to the January Transfer window of 2007. Will we still be top 3 by the end of this article?

Praise by former boss Warnock who is currently managing his boyhood Blades in the Premier League.

Birmingham City look pretty decent to be honest. Future pilgrim Damien Johnson plays on the right wing, David Dunn is the danger man looking to make things tick.

An early goal for us meant nothing for us as David Dunn’s terrific longshot and Stephen Clemence’s peach of a free kick earned them the 3 points. Two solo goals, can’t fault the team.

These future pilgrims are everywhere, this time we face Darren Purse playing for Cardiff.

Two goals from substitutes bring a close game to an end.

I haven’t featured him as much as I’d liked, but Cherno Samba is going to be out for a while.

Djordic and Hayles start to day to give us something new and fresh, or maybe the fact they have been moaning about playing time and I can’t risk any negativity in the dressing room if we are to get promoted.

Maybe there is a reason they aren’t playing.

Livid.

Dropping like a stone here.

Yikes.

For those interested in how the rest of this 2006 parallel universe is getting on.

And you couldn’t make this up, we’ve drawn Ryan Lowe’s Crewe Alex in the FA Cup.

Timar, your time has come to take your chance. Couldn’t justify before, but now he’s our only real replacement.

Smily Roy Keane has lost his job.

Mid-table Wolves is a great chance for to pick ourselves up some much needed 3 points.

Ebanks-Blake ironically scores our only goal, but we gotta stop with the 1-1 draws. Especially in these winnable ties.

Akos, what is going on. He’s just melting into the background and not being effective at all. 5 goal contributions is poor for. Maybe it’s my tactics..

Teams sniffing round Luke Summerfield. Not going anywhere.

Paul Gallen leads our old foes QPR, in reality he was signed on loan in the upcoming transfer window. But he is trash and has no pace so I am not touching him this time round.

*instructs team to tackle harder on Gareth Ainsworth*

That’s what I’m talking about! Some Hungarian magic from Peter – a beauty of a strike to take the lead.

Luke leaps from his line to punch/catch the incoming corner.

Get’s it all wrong and it’s 1-1. Nice.

Teams should know the close Paul Wotton down by now.

It clatters off the bar and bounces down to make the goal just that bit sweeter.

2-1.

This is how I unleash Wotton into games.

  1. Run around and hack people,
  2. Get forward at any opportunity
  3. Don’t even think about passing it.

Works like a charm.

But it’s all about Halmosi, who ends with 1 goal and 2 assists.

Top of the league WBA up next.

Featuring Akos, Timar and Peter’s mate Zoltan Gera. Hungarian friends. He is Premier League level, so it’s gonna be tough.

What a free kick from Peter Halmosi.

But it was only in response to a John Hartson free-kick earlier in the half.

But we lose it late on when we were so close to a good ‘1-1’ for once.

Gonna have to start giving Romain back the keeper’s spot before we have a bit of a problem on our hands regarding team morale.

After playing this, I actually saw the real Larrieu shopping in Sainsbury’s.

Life is strange.

Paul Wotton has got some kind of bad virus that will keep him out of action for a couple weeks.

Wait, hold on..

Did I bring coronavirus back from the future?

Halmosi is having the better season of the two Hungarian forwards.

I don’t know much about Adam Eckersley but I am pretty sure he played for us at one point?

Hi Warren Feeney. His strike partner is Adam Boyd, current league top scorer. He has 19 goals.

In real life, he only scored 1 goal in his entire Luton career.

Ah Football Manager..

We had to survive most of the game with 10 men after Halmosi picked up two very quick yellow cards.

Will have to get by without our best player next game.

Can’t be straying too far away from the play-off positions.

Manager-less Stoke are our next opponents.

Luke comes to catch a free-kick this time…

It’s bundled in.

Shambolic.

90+1 mins on the clock. The ball falls to the feet of substitute Nick Chadwick to earn a classic 1-1 draw….

Buried it.

I am still and focused on the touchline as the bench celebrate wildly around me.

They are relegation candidates, we should be winning these games.

And we need 3 points if we are to get back into the play-offs.

Colchester, for what feels like the 7th time this season.

He scores, he assists.

His name is Peter Halmosi.

It’s January, we can bring in some new faces.

I’m thinking an extra striker to relieve the burden from Sylvain.

Happy Timar.

Ah 2006, a simpler time.

Wait, it’s actually 2007 now as we host Barnsley on new year’s day.

The last few minutes of the game, the fans sing Peter Halmosi’s name after ANOTHER MoTM performance 2 more assists. But he is badly hurt and I can’t take him off as we have used all our subs, we have to sacrifice him to hold on to this narrow lead.

The win is secured, but at what cost?

It is not as bad as feared. We have players who can hold that position until he’s ready.

Phew.

Another goal for Wotton though. His job is just to tackle and shoot from distance, and it’s working.

FA Cup time!

Another year for Lilian, he is an absolute machine. He never stops.

You can tell by the fact I didn’t even bother to give Anthony Barness a face that he wasn’t gonna last long.

Sold to Hull.

Sad to see Ryan Lowe misses this game through injury. But funnily enough he is replaced by a young Byron Moore.

Bojan! Great header, he’s been whining all season about game time, now Peter is out he’s got his chance.

Wotton. Edge of box. Shoots. Off the underside of the bar and in. Goal.

That will do.

I’m not sure classy would be the word to describe Paul, but he is effective.

A hiccup in Doumbe’s return from injury.

Good. Now leave me alone to do my job.

Yikes. Arsenal in the 4th round. Thierry Henry, Van-Persie, Ljunberg, Kolo Toure, the list goes on.

I’m not sure if we can equal the quarter final run of the real 2006 team..

I’ve signed Stephen Dobbie.

Is he the answer to our problems?

Probably not.

What was I thinking?

I don’t know.

You have got to be kidding me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am at a loss.

Stephen Dobbie, can you play attacking midfield?

Without Buzsaky we are bit weak creatively in the middle.

It’s just a case of getting Paul Wotton in good positions to score worldies from here on out.

I can’t believe that worked.

Fan’s even got a chance to see Stephen Dobbie play as a False-nine – years before Pep Guardiola and Messi popularised the idea I’ll have you know.

Revolutionising football we are.

If only there was someone out there to fill the boots of our injured play-maker…

Stay tuned.
