Part 1

Part 2

After an opening day 3-2 defeat, the first order of business is signing yet another centre back.

Welcome Remie Streete. Apparently a league one level player.

First home league game of the season. Colchester. Unchanged, Remie Streete need’s to get his fitness up so will be playing with the under 23’s.

A commanding performance from Antoni Sarcevic. The man of the moment. Two goals in a 2-0 win.

That is what we like to see.

Keep the games coming. Up next league one Ipswich in the cup.

Not expecting lots, just a good test for us. Remie Streete and Ryan Blair make their debuts with Mike Cooper in net for the valuable experience.

We were the better team, lost two goals from set pieces. Sarcevic unlucky to be credited with an own goal.

Not bothered at all. Back to the league please.

A training injury for Gary Sawyer see’s him out for the next few weeks. Not to worry, we have the cover.

Newport County away. Jamille Matt and the infamous Nile Ranger lead the line in a more offensive version of Lowe’s formation. Will be interesting to see how that plays out. Edwards in for Riley who is a little tired from the mid-week cup game. Scott Wootton and Josh Grant replace Streete and injured Sawyer.

And its the right wing back who scores a beautiful low driven shot from the edge of the box. I swear he has scored a goal like that in real life this season right?
Captain Sarcevic involved in the action again with the lay off.

Time to build on these last two league results.

Salford up next, as the games come quick and fast in August. Welcome home Oscar. Andy Kellett starts today to give McFadzean some rest. With that whole left side of the pitch to cover, our wing-backs are going to have to be managed well and rotated as too not get fatigued.

And art imitates life once again with a Danny Mayor goal in this tie to get him up and running. Although not as spectacular, a series of blocked shots fell to Danny who had an easy tap in.

3 wins on the bounce in the league!

Another team who adopt the same shape as us in Walsall who visit Home Park. Riley/Edwards continue their rotation at wing-back.

And it is Rudden and Riley who pop up with the goals this time to get us the win.

And put us up to 2nd in the league.

A series of international call ups force us into postponing the Oldham game next month.

To round off August 2019 and this update of ‘An Argyle Journey’ is Northampton away. The same settled side, yet again up a team playing 3 centre-backs, 2 wing-backs, 3 in the middle and two up top. Lowe-ball is in fashion and we are leading the way.

Yes,that is Scott Wootton scoring the winner with a thunderbastard from 24 yards. What a legend.

The Wootton redemption arc is real.

The end of August see’s us top of the league where we belong.

Thanks Crewe for ruining our perfect league record.

Here is how the next couple months look.

I’ll see you at some point then!
