Remi Matthews – 4. An uncharacteristically poor game from the Norwich loanee, as he was beaten a little too easily for Bristol Rovers’ first goal and was caught our by Ellis Harrison’s pressing twice, nearly conceding in the process after kicking the ball into him.

Oscar Threlkeld – 6. One of the better defenders from the game, he looked much more comfortable on the ball and was far more of a threat going forward.

Zak Vyner – 5. Not the best game that Vyner will have for Argyle, as he struggled to cope with the presence of Harrison throughout the game. He coped better than his defensive partner, but will likely still be disappointed with his performance.

Yann Songo’o – 3. A very, very poor game from Songo’o who was embarrassingly outplayed by Harrison. Second to most balls, woeful trying to play the ball out and beaten dreadfully for Rovers’ second goal. Nothing went for him in the game.

Gary Sawyer – 6. Still holding his own in League One, it was a half decent performance from the left-back who was assured defensively and looked to provide options going forward where possible.

David Fox – 7. Grew into the game, but Argyle’s best passer of the ball for long periods and helped the team take control of the game more as it went on. Far from his best game, but even when things aren’t always going his way, he is a valuable asset to the side.

Moses Makasi – 6. A player who still looks a bit short of match fitness, he was another who grew into the game. A poor first half in which he struggled when the ball was played into his right foot, he gradually became more confident and his distribution and runs off the ball improved dramatically.

Jamie Ness – 8 – Man of the Match. Quickly becoming a pivotal player in the Argyle cog, he was probably the best player on the entire pitch. Energetic and box-to-box, he was a constant threat and was always looking to make a positive impact with the ball. He has stepped up admirably since Diagouraga left.

Graham Carey – 7. A first-half in which little went for him, and a second whereby he was nearly impossible to play against, eventually seeing Joe Partington get substituted as a result. Creative and enigmatic, the second-half saw some of the best football we know he can play.

Ruben Lameiras – 6. Another who had a poor first-half and a much better second, albeit he did not quite have the same impact in the second-half as Carey. It was a shame he missed the penalty, which was well-struck and kept out by an even better save.

Ryan Taylor – 6. Battled and worked hard and played his role well. He was a handful for the Bristol Rovers defence, putting himself about and feeding the ball to other players. Not everything came off, but what he offers is so valuable to Argyle’s system.

Aaron Taylor-Sinclair – N/A. Brought on in the 91st minute to help see out the game.

Paul Paton – N/A. Brought on in the 93rd minute and won a free-kick in the dying seconds, making a meal of a clumsy challenge from a Rovers player.
