A brief introduction.
After a slip in Argyle’s unbeaten run against Charlton, they were swiftly back to winning ways on what turned out to be an extremely Good Friday, thrashing a helpless Southend team 4-0. April is going to be a real test of Plymouth Argyle’s play-off credentials, whether they can justify where they stand at the moment with games against close play-off rivals Peterborough and Portsmouth to come shortly after this one. A win against Scunthorpe with a game in hand on them too, will be an enormous boost as they enter, as previously mentioned, what is unarguably a tricky month.
Scunthorpe are without a win since the beginning of February and have recently sacked their manager. Their form is poor and have only managed three goals in their last three games, even with two of them at home. Their Friday match against Oxford was the caretaker manager’s first game in charge and there was widespread shock as he dropped main target man Hooper, in favour of a more possession based line up. Scunthorpe will be looking to put their recent form behind them and solidify their play-off position.

I can see Scunthorpe sticking with the same team they put out against Oxford as they look to prove themselves and keep possession more.

Writer’s comments
This is one of Argyle’s biggest games so far this season. Away from home playing a team we must beat (or at least avoid defeat to) if we want to try and consolidate our place the play-offs. If I’m honest I feel like the loss against Charlton was somewhat a blessing in disguise and now the players want it even more. Scunthorpe’s form is poor and Argyle need to capitalise on that. 2-0 Argyle.
