Ryan Lowe has confirmed that both Will Aimson and Jose Baxter will be fit to face Crewe Alexandra. Going into the opening game of the season, Argyle’s two main fitness doubts were Baxter, who had been without a club since Oldham released him this summer and therefore lacked pre-season fitness, and Aimson, who carried a pelvic injury from the end of last season.

The ex-Bury man has missed every single pre-season game so far following his move to Home Park, though he has gradually intensified his fitness regime and returned to full training on Thursday. Speaking to Plymouth Live, Lowe confirmed his return to training, having stated that Aimson had a “75% chance” of being part of the travelling squad last week.

Meanwhile Baxter played half an hour against Bristol Rovers and an hour against Tavistock, having previously made an additional 45 minutes while on trial at Mansfield. Yet, Lowe confirmed that he will be part of the travelling squad, though he appears unlikely to start, with Argyle’s manager stating: “I think, so he’s not far off. We still have to get him a bit fitter, a bit sharper, he knows that, we know that, but it will come over the next few weeks.”

With Ryan Taylor and Dom Telford also back in training, Lowe has almost a full squad to pick from going into Saturday’s curtain-raiser.
