After the successful trip to Charlton at the weekend, Plymouth Argyle will face fellow League One side Lincoln City in the second round of this season’s FA Cup.

Former Imps manager Danny Cowley conducted the draw, and he drew Argyle out as the home side, so the game will take place at Home Park across the weekend of 28-29 November. It’ll be sandwiched between a trip to Peterborough and a home game against Rochdale on successive Tuesdays in League One.

It’s a quick turnaround for the two sides after Lincoln beat the Pilgrims 2-0 last month. Lincoln were without doubt the stronger side on the day, but the familiar surroundings of Home Park may well be just the tonic for Ryan Lowe’s men, particularly given his side’s sterling home record since taking charge. Argyle will also host Lincoln in the league at the end of February.

Argyle have a fairly indifferent record against Lincoln across their history, with 14 wins, 13 draws and 17 defeats since the clubs first met in 1914. Recent history, however, may give the Green Army every reason to be optimistic. Argyle and Lincoln actually played each other in the FA Cup back in 2013, when a Reuben Reid hat-trick inspired John Sheridan’s side to an emphatic 5-0 win.

The Greens will be looking to win their second round tie and go one step further than they did last season, when defeat in a replay against Bristol Rovers saw them exit the competition at this stage.
