Yesterday saw an eagle eyed member of the Green Army spot what appears to be Plymouth Argyle’s latest (and most probably final) pre-season friendly arranged for the pre-season tour in Spain.
Whilst we cannot be certain until either club has confirmed the date, a Facebook post by La Manga Club, the resort in which Ryan Lowe’s men will visit, publicly announced that Argyle will face League One outfit AFC Wimbledon on Saturday 20th July.

The fixture will prove to be a good test for Ryan Lowe’s men as the Wombles are (regrettably) of a higher division and despite the lack of success within recent years their new manager Wally Downes transformed the London club last term: memorably keeping them up at the expense of Argyle.
Wimbledon looked certain to face the drop before the appointment of their former player. Downes went back to basics and transformed the Wombles into a hard working efficient side. Their most notable performance would be the 2-2 draw against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road where a late strike saw the game end level despite the constant pressure from the Hatters.
Their win on Boxing Day against Argyle where they also won the game with a late winning goal was crucial- the three point swing as a result of the goal saw Wimbledon survive and Argyle eventually drop. The London outside are a side we’ve faced multiple times over the past few years, more than any other. The latest match-up should be a moderate test of Argyle’s progression under Lowe. It will be a good representation of how Lowe’s men will react to a structured dogged side. This will most likely be vital for the preparation for League Two, since the majority of sides function in a similar manner.
