The race for Home Park has finally been run with the expected appointment of former Bury boss Ryan Lowe being announced today.

The Liverpudlian endured his first full season as a manager last campaign whilst achieving promotion to the third tier at the first time of asking. With a preferred 3-1-4-2 system the new head promises to deliver an exciting brand of football to Home Park which should excite the Argyle fan base. The highest scoring team in League Two last term was indeed Ryan Lowe’s Bury.

With a very gung-ho style of football being installed you would be forgiven for thinking that the Shakers’ defence would be a bit leaky. However, whilst Bury’s defensive record wasn’t the best, they were hardly shiping goals consistently, and their exploits at the other end of the field more than made up for it. Lowe’s style has been complimented by the likes of Jurgen Klopp and Rafa Benitiez, and his connections to high profile figures within the game can only serve him well.

Promising times would appear to be ahead as the Argyle board have shown great ambition in the quality of this capture. Many thought the Greens would settle for the cheaper option, but poaching another team’s manager shows great levels of intent. The appointment of Lowe is one which seems certain to bring excitement back to Home Park; a busy pre-season is set to follow with Lowe expected to bring in numerous new signings in order to facilitate his system.
