Plymouth Argyle pair Ryan Lowe and Luke Jephcott have won the manager and player of the month for League Two respectively.
This is after a run of 5 wins and a draw from 6 games in the month of January, which has seen the Greens propel themselves up to third and into the automatic promotion places.
Lowe has won the award after being nominated for the third consecutive month. He beat Keith Curle of Northampton Town, David Artell of Crewe Alexandra and Michael Flynn of Newport County to win the award.
On winning, Lowe said “There are a lot of good managers who are nominated for it, so well played to them as well. It’s a tough league and we know we are working day in day out to achieve something good.”
“The award is given to me but it’s a collective thing, there is a team behind me also that needs to take a bit of credit for it. Without them, I can’t do it on my own.”
Meanwhile, Argyle striker Jephcott won the player of the month award after five goals in four starts and one substitute appearance in January.
This is after being recalled early from his loan spell at seventh tier Truro City at the start of the month after some good performances.
The youth academy graduate beat senior pros Nicky Adams of Northampton and Ollie Palmer of Crawley to win the award.
A delighted Jephcott said “If you had told me then that I would win this award I would have laughed. I feel I have come a long way this month.”
“I was surprised when I even got nominated to be fair, and all the other candidates were strong. It’s an unbelievable feeling to win this award. I’m going to use this as a stepping stone to really kick on in the second half of the season. Hopefully, I can get more goals and, ultimately, we can get promotion.”
It was the first of two awards won by Jephcott in the last 48 hours as he was also voted to be the PFA Fans’ player of the month for January by the Green Army.
