Ahead of another huge game in Plymouth Argyle’s season, we spoke to Accrington fan Callum in our latest Opposition View.

How has your season panned out so far?

Bit of a double-edged sword. A great start saw us lying in the play-off places and had people dreaming of back to back promotions.

However, the realists amongst us would’ve snapped your hand off to be where we are now. Great cup run and fate in our hands with two games to go….isn’t bad for what is logistically a mid table Conference side punching above its weight due to the God like genius of Sir John Coleman.

Are there any players who have stood out especially this season?

Jordan Clark has handled the step up well and Mark Hughes and Billy Kee has been their ever-reliable selves. However, a special mention must go to Ross Sykes…an academy graduate given a League One baptism of fire. Wouldn’t be surprised if the big centre back plays much higher.

What tactical style would you say you’re playing right now?

4-5-1 much of the time. Sometimes two up top. The more direct approach has to be used at home as our pitch is more bobbly than a crater, with more sand than the Sahara. Punishes us more than anybody else….as away from home we can get our passing game going and that’s the game Coleman likes to play.

Accrington did of course pull further clear of the relegation zone with a 2-1 win over Doncaster in midweek. Just how important does that result feel?

The Messiah said it was arguably the biggest win of his managerial career. When you’re talking about a man with four titles…that shows how colossal it was. To be honest most folk were expecting the Argyle game to be do or die. I hope we can play with a little bit more freedom now and the crowd won’t be as tense which can often hamper the players. The Clayton End will enjoy it and hopefully the Accy goals will flow.

With the relegation battle so tight and seemingly going down to the wire, who do you see being relegated this year?

Genuinely can’t call it. It’s a ridiculous division.

Bradford going down illustrates how well we are doing. Their stadium holds two thirds of our town’s population and they get 13k at home….give Coley those numbers and he’d romp the league.

Are there any real weak links in your team you’re worried about?

We don’t seem to have a stand out keeper…more like two second choice stoppers. The back four can be shaky at times….loans being recalled crippled us. We lost our keeper and two of the back four. Another Callum Johnson…he has been off the boil since Preston bid for him.

Which Argyle player, if any, would you like to sign?

Sarcevic always looked handy when playing for Fleetwood and Carey is decent pro at this level.

What is your prediction for the game?

Stanley 5-5 Argyle

Stanley to come back from 5-0 down and grab the point that ensures League One football.

That’s also the kiss of death and guarantees a dour 0-0.

I just hope we don’t down tools. If any team could still be relegated at odds of over 300-1…it’s The Stanley.
