Preview: Peterborough United

A brief introduction

Argyle head into Saturday’s game, still without a win in the league so far. After being in the lead in four of their five games, they have only held out for a win in one of them and that was in the league cup. Derek Adams will be looking for perhaps a better display in terms of solidification at the back towards the end of a game. Argyle will need strong stamina and fitness levels. This, in the long-run, could be aided with the new signing O’Keefe however he will not be in the squad for Saturday due to international clearance not being received by the Welsh FA. Hopefully Argyle’s season can really kick start here against Adams’ old enemy, Steve Evans.

Peterborough have had what can only be described as an emphatic start to the league season. Played four, won four, scored ten. However Posh face a packed September schedule so similarly to Argyle they will be looking towards relying on their squad depth and fitness. However, given the start both teams have had to the season, Peterborough will be disappointed with anything other than the extension of their 100% run and keeping their noses in the lead.

Head-to-head

There are always goals between these two teams, in fact in the last 12 games, both teams have scored!

Argyle recorded the largest victory between the two teams back in 2003,, winning 6-1

Argyle have only won once in their last five meetings with Peterborough

Writer’s comments

As much as I’d love to be optimistic here I really can’t see Argyle getting anything from this game. Our start to the season has been sluggish and I can’t see this game being any sort of turning point in our season unfortunately. I feel Peterborough may begin to make a real statement as being amongst the favourites for promotion even at this early point in the season. 2-0 Peterborough.
