Plymouth Argyle have announced that Neil Dewsnip has been appointed the club’s Director of Football, via the official website.

Dewsnip is a former coach of various England youth levels and head of the Everton Academy, where he met current Argyle assistant manager Steven Schumacher.

He worked in an unofficial role beside the pair last season as Lowe and Schumacher guided Bury to promotion in their first full seasons in the hotseat.

It was announced earlier this season that initially Dewsnip would take up the role of Technical Consultant beside Lowe and Schumacher.

This comes after the departure of Argyle stalwart Kevin Hodges earlier this month, as Academy Director.

On his new role Dewsnip said “I am really excited to start as Director of Football at Argyle.”

“I have been lucky enough to have enjoyed success previously at Everton and with the English FA, and I will be working hard to ensure that this pattern of success continues at Home Park.”

Chief Executive Andrew Parkinson said the following: “We are delighted to welcome Neil as our Director of Football. The role is an important one for the development and progress of the club and, in Neil, we have the ideal person to fill that role.”

“His knowledge of the game, from the grass-roots to the international stage, is incomparable and will help us achieve a desired consistency of style, coaching, development and philosophy across Plymouth Argyle that will radically benefit the entire club.”

This news rounds off a busy week for Plymouth Argyle with Trevor East becoming a Director and Simon Hallett adding another cash injection into the club.
