Following last week’s 4-0 defeat at the hands of derby rivals Exeter City, Ryan Lowe tried to look forward optimistically, stating “the attitude this week has been second to none. Without dwelling on last week, we have to put it right quick. We have a good opportunity to do that.”

Argyle’s manager also spoke positively about the current state of Argyle’s league campaign. He declared “There’s no difficult situation here. The lads didn’t have a great day, but we are not in a bad place. When we beat Carlisle and Orient, everyone is up. But Exeter is one game, and it’s gone. We move on, and we have a chance to rectify that when they come to Home Park.”

“We are on track for where my team was this time last season. We have a good opportunity to keep climbing the table, and we are ready for the challenge.”

Lowe described his opposite number, Michael Jolley, as a “good young coach”, commenting that Grimsby are “going to be looking to come here and win. It’s a task, but I feel we have an excellent chance if we play well.”

“The league is inconsistent, we know that. That’s why we respect every team. Teams can turn up at places you think they might lose and turn sides over.”

An update was also provided on new signing Billy Clarke. Lowe is keen to implement his new striker into his matchday squad but admitted “his fitness isn’t where we want it to be. But he’s working hard to get there as soon as he can. He missed pre-season so he’s trying to catch up.”

Lowe also disclosed that Jose Baxter and Conor Grant are “probably a week away”, while Ryan Taylor is fit. Dom Telford is also not far away: “I think the order will probably be Dom, Jose, Conor.”

Finally, he also spoke about the potential for incomings and outgoings at Home Park. Read more on our Plymouth Argyle Transfer Centre.
