Plymouth Argyle face Carlisle later today, with both sides looking for a win to kickstart their respective seasons. Ahead of kick off, we spoke to TheCumbrians.Net, who can also be found on Twitter, to get their views.
First of all, how did you get into supporting Carlisle?
Five of us so too many to go into!
Are there any Carlisle players in particular we should be looking out for this weekend?
Harry McKirdy is likely out with injury, and Nathan Thomas is known to you so we’ll go with our Mo Sagaf, a Somalian picked up from Braintree. Raw but there’s a player in there, hopefully he’ll push on for us.
It looks from afar like it’s been a difficult start to the season at Brunton Park. What have you made of it?
Frustrating. Defence hasn’t clicked, midfield has chopped and changed and strikers inconsistent. Performances have been mixed as a result.
What are your thoughts on manager Steven Pressley?
He’s similar to marmite. Some like him, others don’t. Has his philosophies but some feel they’re too much for League Two. The defeat to Crewe saw a mood swing with some chants of ‘Pressley Out’ in the air. Big couple of weeks coming up for him.
What sort of tactical style do you expect to set up with on Saturday?
We’ll likely start with a 3-5-2 after switching from a 4-3-3 early in the season. We try to play out from the back but it hasn’t really worked for us yet.
And are there any real weak links in the side you’re worried about?
Our defence has been poor in the main. Very much a work in progress. That’s suffered delay.
What first comes to mind when you think of Plymouth Argyle?
A club with a lot of potential. Large catchment area and a nearly redeveloped ground. Championship is surely the aim?
Which Argyle player, if any, would you like to sign?
Antoni Sarvecic always seemed to play well for Fleetwood against us, and was once vaguely rumoured to be coming here, so we’ll go for him.
Do you have any predictions for League Two in general this year?
The year on year decline in quality in League Two is more and more evident. Anyone can beat anyone.
And finally, what is your prediction for the game itself?
We’d take a draw now!
