Fitness and availability
It seems as if Argyle have perhaps finally put their goalkeeping issues behind them, as well as all injury and suspension woes. Defender Gary Miller is at at risk of suspension however. having thus far clocked up four yellow cards this season.
Hosts Rotherham will be waiting to see whether Lee Frecklington and Joe Newell will be fit enough to get back into contention for Saturday’s game, as both returned to training earlier this week. However, Paul Warne’s men will be without defensive midfielder Will Vaulks who faces his suspension for an accumulation of five yellow cards.
Predicted line-ups
After United’s win against Blackpool last week, it seems plausible that Warne will keep a very similar line up with the same formation.
(3-5-2) Rodak; Wood, Ajayi, Ihiekwe; Emmanuel, Towell, Potter, Williams, Mattock; Ball, Clarke-Harris.
Similarly to Rotherham, Adams will likely stick with a winning side after Argyle overcame Gillingham last week. It is currently unclear whether loan ‘keeper Kelle Roos will remain in goal or whether Luke McCormick will return to the side. Oscar Threlkeld could potentially make an appearance above Sawyer, although if McCormick isn’t fit yet then the side lacks an obvious captain.
(4-3-3) Roos; Sawyer, Edwards, Bradley, Taylor-Sinclair; Diagarouga, Fox, Carey; Jervis, Taylor, Grant.
Head-to-head
Rotherham and Argyle have played each other 68 times with the Greens coming out victorious 27 times and Rotherham, 25 times.
1952 saw the two sides meet for the first time, as Argyle won 4-3 in the seven-goal thriller in League Two.
Finally, the greatest margin of defeat with these clubs came in 1961 and then five years later in 66’. Rotherham came out victorious 5-2 in 61’ with Argyle returning the favour in 1966.
Writer’s view
Argyle look to be climbing out of the relegation zone with only three points separating them at 18th placed Doncaster. Rotherham sit 13 places and 9 points higher in the league, although both teams have had similar runs of form so it should be a tight one on Saturday. However, I can see Argyle just about having that bit between their teeth and coming out with the glory on Saturday. 2-1.
